Im a bit of a bike nut and have owned loads of bikes over the years, and im a big fan of specialized bikes. For me specialized stands for quility product! I had this bike for just over a year before i moved on to my specialized big hit downhill bike. This bike was amazing, it took everything i throw' at it and more. It was so versatile i could ride to the jumps and jump all day, ride from the jumps of into the forest and do an xc juant, and then hammer it down the steeps at the dh track (light riding mind!) and it just kept going. the componenrty pack was fair and the fork took some big knocks and the frame im sure, i still going to this day! (if i had more money i would have kept this dew to fondness!!) All round ripper of a bike and the new'er 07,08 and 09 models kick ass as well! If your in the market for a hardtail do it all check what specialized has to offer.
I have owned this frame for a few years now and I have to say it has taken everything I have thrown at it! It is an excellent frame, that feels sturdy but isnt too heavy.
I have it setup with a set of dirt jumper 2 forks, 26" wheels running 2.6" tyres, hydraulic from disc and stock cable rear (shimano) along with the stock drivetrain.
I find I can use my bike for anything, I quite often head down to my local trails for some jump riding, and also take my bike oin downhill runs (where it takes quite a harsh bashing!).
I have performed drops from a height of about 12 foot straight to flat on this frame and it never complains! I have seen many other frames snap under that kind of strain but this one just goes from strength to strength.
I would recomend this bike to anyone who wants to ride a bit of every style.
I own 4 bikes and this has to be the best of all of them. I own a Specialised Big Hit, but this is only good for downhill. I own a We the People Thrillseeker, this is a BMX, and I can only use this on the trails. I own a Brisa trials bike, but this can only be used ofr trials. But my P3 can be used for downhill, duel, dual, trails, trials, and almost anything else thrown in its way. The amazing front suspension which will comfort all of the nasty bumps in your path, the only problem with the suspension is that it is quite soft and spongy so it can bottom out quite easily. But this doesn't deter me from using it. If im going out to ride with friends, and I don't know what we are going to be doing, then I will always bring my P3, unless if they tell me precisely what it is, but even then sometimes I prefere to bring my P3. The bike handles really well, and I have progressed on it really well, corners which I would usually slow down to go round I hit even faster, becasue I know that I can control the bike around the corners without crashing. The rapid response suits my style of riding perfectly. If you enjoy many types of extreme riding and sont know what bike to get becasue of the massive market of various types of bikes. Pick the Specialized P3, its one bombproof bike with a 10 year guarantee, which you'll be riding for a long time.
