      A legend in the making

Before I start my review I would like to say that his name is Dwyane and not spelt the way it is on the header from dooyoo. Not my doing

The NBA is at one of the best states it’s ever been and one of many players who can take credit for that is Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade, here is my review on the NBA Superstar Guard.

      Biography
      ...............

      Position - Shooting guard

      Nickname - Flash, D-Wade

      Height 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m)

      Weight 212 lb (96 kg)

      Team Miami Heat

      Born January 17, 1982 (age 25)
      Chicago, Illinois

      Early Life

Dwyane Tyrone Wade Jr was born on 17th January 1982 to Dwyane Sr and Jolinda Wade in Chicago, Illinois. His parents divorced when he was young and his older sister Tragil took on a lot of responsibility in the house. Something that Dwyane is ever thankful for her guidance.

He was an average student who loved Basketball from an early age and his idol was Chicago Bulls shooting guard Michael Jordan who Wade says he patterns his game after. There aren’t many better people in sport history to model your game on are there.

Wade went to high school at HL Richards in Oak Lawn, Illinois. But he spent little time on court due to playing in the same position as the team’s star and his step brother Demetris McDaniel. He grew four inches in the summer and the following season he was made a starter. Wade averaged 20.7 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. Wade then had a breakout year in the following year when he averaged 27.0 points per game and 11 rebounds per game.

      College

Wade went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and didn’t play for the team in the first year due to academic problems. He did however make it in the second year averaging 17.8 points per game which was a team high and 6.6 rebounds per game and 3.4 assists.

The following year Wade led the team again with an average of 21.5 points per game. He led Marquette to their first championship in their history. He elected to enter the NBA draft in the summer of 2003 and was selected as the fifth pick by Miami Heat.

      NBA Career

      2003-2004
Wade made his NBA debut for Miami Heat scoring 18 points on his NBA debut in an 89-74 road loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Wade went on to average a very respectable 16.2 points per game with 4 rebounds per game and 4.5 assists per game. The Heat had a good combo with Lamar Odom, Wade and Caron Butler.

      2004-2005
In his second season Dwyane Wade made a big step up as his minutes went up by four a game, he averaged 24.1 points per game along with 5.2 rebounds per game and 6.8 assists per game. In this season he showed how he had developed into a more attacking scorer and showed how good a passer he is.
With the addition in the off season of Shaquille O’Neal that Heat were one of the top teams in the NBA.

      2005-2006

In his second season with Shaquille O’Neal at centre. Wade took over and averaged 27.2 points per game with 5.7 rebounds per game and 6.7 assists. Showing his all round game. He won the MVP award in the NBA finals against Dallas Mavericks after bringing the Heat back from 2-0 down. Wade showed more of his amazing ability to take over 4th quarters when the Heat were down.

      2006-2007

Dwyane Wade had started this season with some amazing performances with Shaquille O’Neal out injured for most of the season. Wade was averaging a career high 28.8 points per game before going down with a shoulder injury that will likely force him to miss the rest of the season. A pity for Heat fans now that Shaquille O’Neal had just come back from his injuries. Without Wade the playoffs look bleak for Miami

      Future
      ..........

Wade is one of the most talented players of the last twenty years and he possesses a fantastic will to win that enthuses through the team. He has the ability to win more championships with the Heat. That’s as long as they get in someone to replace all the old guys like Alonso Mourning, Gary Payton oh and of course Shaquille O’Neal

There's no doubt in my mind that he will be in the NBA hall of fame when he retires. Whether or not he wins any more titles.

      The Player
      ................

Dwyane Wade is one of the best in history at closing out games, it’s amazing that there are three players in the NBA that are so talented at this tough art form. Kobe Bryant and Gilbert Arenas being the other two. These three players can bring their team back from being down by ten in the 4th quarter and can also take their team away from a close game within a minute or two.

He also has an amazing ability of being able to make shots when he has been fouled and is facing the other way from the basket, he just knows instinctively where the basket is. He’s often in highlight packages doing this.

He has a great leap and can block better than any current guard in the NBA. He can also dunk in a variety of ways from powerhouse dunks to the more finesse ones. He runs the fast break so well and is talked of as the quickest player in the NBA.

The only weakness in his game is that he isn’t as good a defender as the likes of Kobe Bryant or Tracy McGrady, he is a good defender but he needs to improve to have any chance of passing Kobe Bryant as the best player in the NBA. And having a chance of being better than his Idol Michael Jordan who himself was a great defender.

      Off the court
      ...................

Dwyane Wade is married to his high school sweetheart Siohvaughn Funches, who was his first and only serious girlfriend, and has a son named Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade (born February 4, 2002).

Wade choose the number 3 on his jersey because it symbolises the Holy Trinity. He gives 10% of his Heat salary every year to a church in Chicago.

He has become very succesful off the court aswell picking up large payments for endorsing products like Gatorade, Sean John, T-Mobile, and Topps.

He also has his own Basketball shoe called ''The Wade'' this is made by Converse and is one of the biggest selling NBA player shoes.

      *Career highlights From Wikipedia*

      NBA Finals MVP
      .......................

Last season he performed an amazing comeback for Miami Heat in the NBA final they were down 2-0 against Dallas Mavericks after the first two games and Wade almost single handedly led them to a famous victory which is the franchises only Finals win.

Dwyane Wade came up big with some amazing plays inluding some amazing clutch shots in the fourth quarter of games. And won the battle of the superstars beating Dallas' German supertar Dirk Nowitzki.

Dwyane Wade averaged an amazing 34.7 points per game in the NBA finals. Including three straight of 42, 36, and 43 points to take them to the NBA title and win himself the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award.

      Overall
      '''''''''''''''

I am a massive fan of Dwyane Wade and I would put in second in the NBA at the moment behind Kobe Bryant, there's no doubt in my mind that he will go down in history as one of the top ten who has ever played the game.
