“ Brand: Avent / Type: Cooler Bags „
when my daughter was born, I went for a pink baby bag to take out and about. After a few months, I was sick of the pink bag as even though it was my ideal colour it got dirty very quickly and it spent more time in the wash than anywhere else so I took the decision to go and find one which was more suitable and durable.
I came across this Avent one in Boots. Now I love Avent stuff so without much thought I purchased it though it was fairly expensive at £49.99 but it was completely worth it.
It was black in colour so it was definately going to stay cleaner for longer and it was a rucksack style so if we were not using the pram, it was alot easier to carry about as we could just sling it on our backs. The shoulder straps were also really comfortable too as they were padded so when it was on your back it didn't dig in and cause discomfort.
Inside it boasted the following:
*A thermal section which holds 2 bottles
*A bag which you can put soiled clothes into
*A front pocket with a zip for baby jar storage
*Room for a fold away baby changing mat (included)
*A pocket with a zip for Mummy & Daddy to keep their bits and pieces in so you don't have to carry more bags than you need to.
*A seperate zipped section for nappies and baby wipes.
This bag is really like Mary Poppins bag! Just when you think nothing more can come out of this bag, you find something else! I think you could have fit our kitchen sink into the bag and still had room! It is a decieving bag as looking at it you would think you couldn't get much in it.
The bag is very well made. I never had a problem with any of the stitching or anything. It was also very sturdy and didn't topple over when it had stuff in it.
Overall a really good changing bag which will definately last. Its downside is the price as although it is worth it, it isn't if that make sense.
The Avent Kit Bag has proved to be one of my Best Buys. Originally I did not intend to buy a changing bag as I found them very expensive. I bought a cheap flight bag and a £1.99 changing mat from Mothercare. This was perfectly adequate for day to day needs. However as the months passed I decided that I would like a bag that could carry bottles and pots of food. I also wanted a bag that would be suitable for hiking in the countryside and the Avent Kit bag has proved to be ideal. It is expensive, but if you are given vouchers or someone wants to buy you a present I would recommend it. Useful Features: Well made. Sturdy, good quality material. Comfortable shoulder straps. Choice of black or navy. Doesn't look like a baby bag, (could be used afterwards as a smart back pack). Insulated bottle pocket. Lots of well designed pockets/sections. Changing mat can be attached to bag or detached as baby grows. Downsides: Expensive. Could be bigger, (it can be a bit of a squeeze if you are taking all you need for long walk). Magnetic fastening a little fiddly to close when bag is very full.
I bought the Avent Kit bag just before Ciaran was born. I bought it from Mothercare because basically it seemed to be the only decent one available. It is expensive at £40.00 but looks strong and sturdy. It is navy blue and made out of wipe clean material. It is water resistant (and sick resistant!!) so you don't have to worry about carrying it in the rain. It has wide straps which are comfortable to wear and are easily adjustable. It is quite roomy inside in depth rather than width. This can be quite offputting if you have used a normal changing bag in the past. There are mesh pockets inside to store baby's bits and bobs. There is also a useful deep pocket which is designed for your purse and keys etc. There is a separate messy bag which is waterproof to carry soiled items (I wont go into details!). The changing mat is housed in the bottom of the kit bag in a separate pocket. The changing mat fastens to the pocket with velcro. This pocket has mesh pockets for cream, nappy sacks etc, but is quite small. Also because this pocket is on the bottom of the bag I would be reluctant to store creams etc for fear of them being damaged. There is a zip on the back of the bag which allows easy access into the bag without having to go through the top. I find though, that if like me you carry everything but the kitchen sink, opening this zip would just cause the contents to come spilling out! (Not what you need in the middle of shopping!). On the front of the bag there is another pouch for storing baby food, utensils etc. but again I would be reluctant to store jars in this pouch for fear of them breaking. The pockets are good and waterproof. The pouch is fastened with a zip. There is a bottle compartment which is made from Thinsulate material, this is designed to keep the bottle at the required temperature. I have found that this pocket is useful for a couple of hours but after that the bottle is usually at r
oom temperature. I would be reluctant to use a bottle after a couple of hours in this pouch. Also if you use tall bottles it can be difficult to get them in and out of this pouch as it is designed for use with Avent bottles (naturally!). On the other side of the bag is an identical zip which when opened allows more room inside the bag. It is extremely annoying when you keep opening the wrong zip when getting a bottle. (screaming baby in background doesn't help) All in all a very good bag which is sturdy. You have to be organised with how you store things inside the bag; because it can be a pain rooting around trying to find stuff. The fastening at the top of the bag could be better - just a draw string and a magnetic stud. I find that the stud pops open if you put the bag over your shoulder. Also the purse pocket is on the wrong side - facing the front, which is doubly worrying when the stud keeps opening. A nice bag but a bit too fiddly for my liking especially with the price tag!!
I have bought this bag as my second changing bag to replace the one I got to match my 3 in 1 system. When I bought a pushchair for my 10 month old I decided I needed a new changing bag to match!!! I wanted something plain, I was sick of the brightly coloured check of my last one and quite fancied a rucksack style bag. The one I chose is a very discreet black rucksack made by avent I went for this one even though it was really pricey for a changing bag it has some great features! It has a thermal section to hold two bottles and keep them warm or cool It opens at the top but also has access at the back via a zip so you dont have to empty the bag to get something from the bottom A Messy Bag for soiled clothes A zipped front pocket with compartments for jars of baby food A zipped inside pocket for parents keys, phone etc Two Other internal zip pockets to put what ever you want in! A wipe clean changing mat A seperate section at the bottom of the bag to store nappies, wipes and the changing mat All in all a great changing bag with loads of features, when baby grows up it would be quite possible to use as a sports bag!
Baby bag/rucksack designed with 3M Thinsulate side pocket which aims to to keep up to two bottles warm or cool for several hours. Includes front compartment for baby food storage, and bottom section which also has a baby changing mat holds changing items.
