MESH COMPUTERS, MY EXPERIENCE AND FINAL OUTCOME
I returned a week old faulty PC in the original packaging on the 2nd of December 2014. I sent an email asking them to contact me and let me know when it would be returned I received a reply on the 9th of December informing me they would call me to let me know. There was no call.
I called on the 12th of Dec. They told me they would call back that day to let me know. No call back.
22nd of Dec I phoned and was told they would call back in 30 minutes. Again no call back. I phoned again later in the afternoon. They answered and told me that the machine was still in progress and it would definitely be here before Christmas. I was also told they would call tomorrow after 10:00am to let me know it had been dispatched, if not then call customer services again. Customer services called back and said the machine would be here 3 days after Christmas and it was only a software problem.
5th of Jan 2014 Still no return package. I phoned and was told that the motherboard was faulty and they were repairing it they assured me it would be here in 2 days.
7th of Jan 2014 I phoned to check if it had been dispatched, it had not. I asked to talk to the manager.
He appologised and now told me that the machine had been returned to them damaged in transit and the case had been cracked. They decided to supply me with a completely new machine and upgrade the motherboard to a different spec. A little strange as on the 5th they told me there was only a software problem and the machine was on the test bench ready to be returned on the 7th. I accepted the replacement however.
Again he appologised and told me to ask for him if I called back as he would see to it personally. I asked him if they had replaced the complete machine and he told me they had. I also asked him if they had upgraded the motherboard as previously discussed. He said no “they replaced the motherboard with the "same type” He then asked me if I had the drivers for the motherboard. Which on reflection they should have had if they had just opened a new motherboard package to replace the damaged one, the driver disk comes as standard in a motherboard packaging. He told me that it would absolutely be here for Saturday.
10th Jan (Sat) The package arrived. I inspected the box for damage, there was none. On opening I noticed that the front cover of the PC had been removed and placed in pieces between the cardboard box and the PC separately from the rest of the PC which was packaged inside a polythene bag and secured with polystyrene blocks in the cardboard box. The plastic securing lugs were broken and missing. I took the PC out of its packaging and noticed that the hard drive and SSD cradle mounts had been completely smashed off. All three drives were sitting at a 45 degree angle inside case and rattling loosely. The front of the casing where the metal and plastic meets also had the securing lugs broken and was hanging off separated from the PC. There were plastic parts rattling inside the casing of the PC. I phoned the company again to complain and was asked to turn the broken machine on to "test it". I refused to do so as it was obviously unsafe. There were plastic parts rattling inside the casing of the PC.
When I phoned to complain I was told to send it back to them again and I would have to pay the shipping. After an argument over this which took almost an hour I finally got them to agree that they were responsible for shipping of returned goods that are faulty. When I checked my bank balance later they had charged my account for shipping even though they had said they would pay the return.
A few days later I phoned and asked when the machine would be repaired and returned. I was asked if I had the serial number for windows as they didn't have it. I informed them that the serial number with it's sticker was returned on the first machines case, stuck on the front during manufacturing as is standard for pre-build PCs. It was also on the sticker on the DVD packaging. They told me it wasn't there and also wasn't on the DVD packaging. They then accused me of damaging a sound card and a mouse that was returned with the machine and tried to charge me £500. They also refused a refund and told me that I would have to accept a £500 reduction for damaged goods, and loss of windows key. I was then told I wouldn't get a refund, only credit for a replacement machine. At this point I gave up trying to talk to this company and took them to court. It took all of nine months, countless emails and ignored phone calls, then a court letter to get a final refund.
This has been the most unprofessional company to deal with I've ever encountered. Not only in their approach to building and delivering computers but also in their approach to what the call "customer service"
Would I buy from this company again? Not a chance in hell, but the choice is yours.
I Ordered a customized build of the 'Elite Skylake Turbo': Totalling £1628.00
A substantial build order it was thus, I was expecting a lot from Mesh.
In the past I have always built any desktop I have used, however, after pricing the build up, even if I ordered and built the machine myself the cost difference would have been negligible. Thus, I ordered from mesh to give a long established company a shot. I'm honestly glad I did.
The build is fantastic quality and everything seems to be well fitted and secured. The water cooler is secure and stable which despite enduring a long distance transit(200+ miles)everything was still secure. Most assembled machines can quite easily become damaged/loose if not secured properly during transit, this was not the case.
After inspecting the components themselves and the fittings of the internals for any damage/quality, I moved onto the software side of things.
I inspected firstly the Over-clocking side on the Asus Z170 and although the voltage increase with fan support wasn’t much, performance wise the 7600k seemed to be running flawlessly when under strain at a moderate 4.3Ghz. So although I would have pushed it a little higher, this was a safe boundary I suppose. I further inspected the software and version of Windows 10 (gah windows). The OS was fully updated, with all drivers installed and reporting no issues. The was however one issue relating to software I found: I was missing the 90day trial of Bull guard Internet Security. Although not a great issue as explained to Mesh's customer service, it do find it a little annoying when it specifically appears on the order sheet yet not on the machine itself.
Overall, the build is excellent and I've very pleased; I have summarised as follows:
The quality of the hardware side of things: 10/10
The quality of Software side of things: 9/10
The quality of communication/process: 9/10
Overall happiness with product for price: 10/10
I have an excellent machine from Mesh.
A software glitch happened and the sales person stayed on the phone with me to 20 minutes until it was solved.
Buy your computer from someone else! I have just purchased a PC from Mesh and the machine has not been set up at all, which took a whole day of updates and phaff. The Audio ports differ from those shown on the website and the mouse has this annoying glitch. Customer services are as helpful as a chocolate fire poker. Not what you should expect for a £1200 machine. Do yourself a favour and avoid these bandits at all cost! totally different outfit to the one I dealt with a decade ago.
My MESH experience is another to add to the list of terrible reviews found here.
The first PC I bought from them crashed within the first 2 weeks of purchase and had to be shipped back to the factory for a complete format-reinstall. The motherboard lasted 3 years before giving up completely and paying another £1000 for my second PC, again from MESH, but this time cautiously upgrading to gold warranty.
This turned out to be an even worse experience than the first. Similarly, I started having issues within the first month of purchase, this time with multiple BSODs every day. After several frustrating hours on the phone to tech support and no resolution, I was advised to purchase an extra hard drive to try and fix the problem, which didn't work. I was then advised to send my RAM back to MESH for testing and replacement. They claimed they never received the RAM and plead complete ignorance, with no compromise to send new units, leaving me with a PC that was rendered absolutely useless. Left with no other option I had to pay another £100 for replacement RAM.
For someone who replies in his computer to work I would steer well clear of MESH in the future, and advise anyone else who actually wants to be able to use their PC after a month of purchase to do the same
Having been naive enough not to have read reviews online I order a high-spec machine from MESH 12 weeks ago now and since then have had series of laughable 'customer service' experiences with them! Initially the PC did not perform as advertised with it crashing several times doing simple tasks. MESH collected the PC and returned it 2 weeks later after wiping all my data on the HD without warning me! - It was also returned with several screws rattling around inside and a filthy case. The problems were still not fixed and due to the terrible service I had had with them asked for a refund only to be refused because their technicians had tested it and it was "ok" (surprise surprise). We eventually compromised on me getting a brand new like-for-like machine. That turned up today with 2 x broken fans plus a graphics card that stops working after 2 minutes. Avoid at all costs!!!
I bought a computer from MESH (trading as PC Peripherals) towards the end of last year. This cost me £1100. This was a week late, but not the end of the world. HOWEVER, note my surprise when checking my credit card statement to find an ADDITIONAL £1303 had been taken off my card!!!! I emailed MESH. Then I rang MESH who said someone would call me back ... no-one did. I called again and was told the sales person who I dealt with would call me back ...guess what, he didn't. I eventually had a mental breakdown on the phone before they actually put me through to him. He then said this would be looked into but had no idea why they insisted I spoke to him.
MESH admitted they had made an error and would pay me back via their normal refunds policy which would take 5-7 working days. I hardly felt them taking money off my card "in error" fell into this policy. It took 10 days before I saw the money and they REFUSED to pay the interest I had to pay my card company!!
CHECK YOUR STATEMENT carefully as if I had lots of expensive transactions going through my card, they may well have been £1303 better off at my expense!!!
I am having teh biggest nightmare ever with Mesh.
I have wasted £1500 on a system that is a paper weight. It was delviered with problems, too many to mention, they never answer the phone, they do not reply to mails, here I am three months on and the pc won't start now (I wont bore you with the huge list of problems with it, I HAD to fix!)
They have ZERO customer support, they really do not give a dam about you , they just want your money.
You cannot get to support ever! the ohone is engaged or it cuts you off after an age waiting. Even if you mail sales and ask them to forward your details, nothing happens.
For the love of god and your sanity, DO NOT BUY ANTYTHING from Mesh computers.
I think from now on, the only company I will have to deal with is someone very big like Dell. At least they have professional after sales suopport, which is all we really want right?
I have a Dell laptop which had a mall fault, they had an engineer to me in 2 days to replace teh faulty part. And that, is all we want yes? a problem fixed.
GO with Dell, at least youhave a big company to support you.
NEVER EVER touch Mesh computers, please do not buy from Mesh Computers.
I ordered a computer from Mesh but when it booted up Windows had been installed without a user/password. It was unusable. I followed instructions they gave me (reinstalled Windows after following Tech Support advice, and had an email to prove it), sent computer back etc. Mesh simply did not want to give a refund. Very frustrating. Silly thing is that I would have been happy had they apologised and just fixed it in the fisrt place. Mesh expected me to keep the computer and claimed I had voided the warranty. Anyway after 6 months I ended up having a start court proceedings before I got a refund. So, if you have a problem with the computer, you may very well have a problem with the company too. I would run a mile and would not use them again. Shame. I used the company back in the 1990s when it was under different management and they did a superb job.
I have had a custom built pc since 30th November. I was looking around the Net for a good deal. I am glad that I went with mesh.
12/11/2012 Registered on their site and saved a quote. About a week later I had a call from them. The person I spoke to was very knowledgable and helpful. I told them of my concerns about their reputation. The man reassured me the best as he could and I continued to look around.
I 3 Left a message for the person that phoned me and I was rang right back. this was a 15 minute call that helped me come to a decision.
I chose the Matrix 8120 the pc sales person informed me that The water cooling kit was not compatible with the case and I had an upgrade really nice looking case, excellent feature. The processor was upgraded to an AMD 8350
The build quality is good and everything came as I had selected it. The person on the end of the phone was knowledgeable and advised me on the correct graphics card he listened to what I had to say and made his recommendations from that.
He3 did infrm me upfront as this was a new processor their would be a delay. The pc turned up on the 14th Day.
I am happy with my purchase and I will post a follow up review in due time
I ordered a Mesh Matrix Silent PC in early October after chatting to their sales person Sanjay. I asked for several changes to the standard specification. As I am registered as Blind and have fairly limited vision I run my PC with two monitors running in extended Desktop mode the second monitor set to show the Windows Magnifier. Sanjay said if that was the case I would need to upgrade the Graphics card as the standard card would only run one display. This cost an extra £42 and was not the correct information as the standard 1 Gb card had two DVI outputs and would have served my purposes adequately. Not realising that I had been given incorrect information I agreed to the upgrade. One specific requirement was that the supplied DVD drive was Region free as a relative in the USA sometimes sent me DVD's that were Region 1 and hence would not play on a Region 2 Device. This I was told would be the case as all their DVD drives were Region free. Strange then that when the machine arrived the DVD drive was Region 2. I also upgraded the CPU, power supply, and the case and finally an SSD drive. Without my asking I was offered a £25 discount as I was a returning customer (I had purchased another PC about 5 years ago).
The computer arrived, not in the up to 10 working days, but in 14 working days (pretty good compared to many other people's experience it would seem). The build quality of the machine was up to the high standard I had expected and the machine performs very well. The only difficulty I experienced initially was that the motherboard has a combined Mouse/Keyboard PS/2 port but there was no lead supplied to enable me to connect my keyboard and Mouse, both of which are PS/2. An email requesting one has been unanswered. A few days later I found the Regional issue with the DVD drive. A further email regarding this is also unanswered. Yet another email requesting action on the first two emails also remains unanswered.
When I placed my order it was suggested that all machines were soak tested before dispatch. As mine was built on a Wednesday, dispatched on Thursday and arrived on Friday the soak test must have been of very short duration.
The Computer works very well
The build quality is very good
Good quality components
Although not "Silent" it is pretty quiet (if a quieter cooler had been fitted as standard it could then have been classified as virtually silent)
Took longer than the suggested delivery time
No PS/2 adapter lead supplied
DVD drive not Region free
Total lack of response from Mesh to any emails
Standard of after sales service appears to be very inferior compared to what the original Mesh company offered a few years ago.
Ok. So, obviously I should've checked reviews in the first instance. This was my mistake. Still, it seems that for all the bad reviews, there are still some positive. The other thing I notice is that a lot of the complaints are regarding high-end machines.
I ordered my machine on 1st november, and it is now the 15th. A few days ago I received an e-mail stating that my machine is in production, and that the estimated delivery date is 'early next week'. Now, my machine isn't anything particularly special. Standard uATX motherboard, and AMD processor, AMD Radeon 6-D series GPU, 8GB ballistix RAM, Pioneer, Blu Ray drive, standard sound card and a built in memory card reader. My hope is that being a fairly basic machine, I won't encounter any of the mentioned problems. We shall see next week I suppose...
However, I do still have some problems with MESH's service. Firstly... I have no idea how you all telephoned them. I have been unable to find a single active phone number for them. Secondly, the status on the 'my orders' section of the webpage still states 'allocating parts', even though it is confirmed as being in production.
So far I have found their e-mail responses to be timely, if a little vague. Either way, being a freelance consumer journalist, my experience will be made
public, in a very detailed way. They have been made aware of this, so I hope they take heed and do a proper job on this order.
I feel I should also add that my Brother in Law ordered a very similar machine from Cyber Power Systems on the 6th, and it arrived within 3 working days (at no extra charge).
I will update this review as and when the machine actually turns up.
Also, if anyone who has phoned them recently would be kind enough to pass ona working phone number, that would be much appreciated.
When I ordered a computer from Mesh in January 2011 the trouble started and I had to fight for a refund. In a facebook group called "Mesh Computer Complaints" I found fellow customers with the same problem and good advice. Lets join ranks again and put a stop to their dodgy dealings.
I would just like to say that if anyone is thinking of buying from Mesh Computers, please take heed and DO NOT. There are hundreds of reviews stating some very obvious reasons. I for one have been waiting over a month now for a refund and get excuse after excuse, have now contacted credit card company to let them sort it out. They do not answer e-mails in a timely manner, they lie and waste time. Sanjay the agent should be trusted at all costs. I used to recommend Mesh Computers to all friends, business and family, I will not be making that mistake again.
Ordered and paid for i7 latest spec machine with upgraded motherboard and a couple of other upgrades...
My money was taken and I was told to expect around ten working days. Ten working days came and left this earth and no sign of my eagerly await top of the range mesh quiet pc... it was all going to be worth it.
I called they kept me on hold for ever. Then I got told that there was a chip supply problem for my build.
How can that be 11 working days on and no i7 CPU! Its the latest spec you should have that on your shelves. Ok when Can I expect it now? another four working delays... I mean days. Okay but why did nobody pick the phone up to tell me... silence is golden at Mesh. So four working days later still no sign... I should have taken that as a sign! But no its Mesh computers they worth all the wait they are brilliant. Nobody calls so I called back... Where is my i7 pc??? well you see its like this.... blah blah production supply problems no graphics card! What Imp sorry say that again? I thought the problem was the chip?
Yes no yes the problem is no graphics card. Ok so what do you have on the shelf? Oh we have this lesser card you can have for the same money or this other card for three times the price!... sorry you expect me to pay extra after the treatment I am receiving? well yes we do. (By the way it is now 22 working days since the whole process started and they took my money). So Ok what other nvidia cards do you have that will do the job for running two monitor and my requirements... we have gtx 660. then after much discussion I thought we had an agreement. At least that's what it sounded like to me. Now I would have to wait a further 3 working days including weekends this has pushed the wait time so far to over a month. And still no PC. Okay I've waited this long... In all this I shall not describe how bad the wait times on their phone system listening to music or on silent hold, suffice to say it can be counted in hours.
My God I nearly fell of my chair on the fourth day I got a phone call from Mesh computers Would I be available to take delivery of PC tomorrow. YES PLEASE was my answer. Thank you thank you thank you.
Next day came of course I was the last on the delivery run. At last exhausted from hours of discussion and negotiations etc etc etc... The computer was in my house. It looked yummy it sounded... very quiet, yes yes yes I'm all excited. So started looking around and something didn't seem quite right! HOLD ON this is not the Graphics card I was lead to believe would be in the system. no No NO WHY ME... calm down lets have another look so ran systems utilities and found not only was it a lesser card it was a lesser mother board and not even the same board that it said in the documentation... I used to be a happy chappie.
MESH you have 10/10 for customer dissatisfaction/disservice. OK now what do I keep this (it is a nice build)... or ask for what I asked and paid for in the first place or return the bloody thing?
So I decided to pack the thing up and take it back in person and let them now in a polite way (which is the way In have dealt with them all the way) and let them know how dissatisfied I am to see what they would do about it. The answer of course would be nada niet nicht nothing rien. But I still had some hope of owning a nice Mesh computer So down to HQ with my pc.
I was a little taken aback when I got to a similar address to theirs just around the corner and the nice lady there said good luck we get this all the time... they are round the corner in the small unit. Another Sign? Still I knocked on the next door and eventually a man with a lab coat answered and asked me to wait in what looked like the production facility split almost 40/40/20 production/storage/thruway to upstairs offices. So I waited and waited and people came in and out. I had a good twenty minute wait and I almost felt like I should be putting on a lab coat and putting some units together There was only one production staff at the time by the time I got seen to the other two returned from lunch.
Laugh... Ill keep this short... So I asked the man who came down to look at my problem he shrugged his shoulder and offered no solution... only another long wait in this non waiting area. after four ups and downs the short of it was they would put the computer back to original spec (not the one I wanted or the one I subsequently agreed on) and they would send it on no recompense no remorse no real conviction, no sincere apology and all done in a waiting area that's open to the stores and small production facility they have. Their offices were obviously too good for customers. After some soul searching and getting in touch with my gut! I decided to take a full refund that I would have to wait for at least ten working days. My patience was more than thin by now but I didn't show it stayed polite and showed my sadness and disappointment at the whole shenanigans.
So of I left for home with a sad excuse for a receipt and no money and no computer.
ten days later and several calls later no money another promise one week... One week later and several calls... guess what... no money another promise another week this time for sure.... one week passed guess what.... still no money. I HAVE NO MORE PATIENCE... I am loosing it this is beyond extracting the urine. I am nearly into third month with this company since I parted with my money and today they are promising that they have processed the payment and it should be in my account in three working days!
For everybody's sake I will not swear.... but you know I AM SWEARING BLIND AND GETTING LIVID...
and the drives around in a Bentley now calm down... needless to say the saga is not over yet... I still have to wait for another three working days.... meanwhile CC company is being informed and solicitors are being instructed... what else is a reasonable meant to do against daylight robbery.
By the way they will not reimburse me for my time, my travel costs my phone bills or for any other inconvenience that they have caused.....
I can only hope that this will guide others down the right path before they choose their PC Laptop
And Im still hoping Ill get my money back
(by the way Mesh computers ceased to trade they are now PC Peripherals... a ten pound takeover that left many people without the systems they paid for.. they are just trying to make money from Mesh computers old reputation)
