sigh - i'm not sure i will ever use these people again. i ordered a book for my daughter's birthday as a surprise present on Amazon Marketplace on Tuesday - usually the books etc arrive promptly and well within the time limit so foolishly i decided to save £5 by not ordering it from Amazon. i have just rang them and they didn't seem to have the information in front of them and i was told that it won't arrive until next Wednesday. They sent it via 'Good Ol' Royal Mail' (my quote marks and comment) it does feel a bit like the old nursery rhyme 'For Want of a Nail' and i have learnt my lesson and won't be using Marketplace again!! I have just been told that it is when they send your order and not when you get the delivery. The company is not responsible for the delay. That was from eBay.I ordered one day and received it the next day. Excellent service and the packing was superb in fact the best I have had.I ordered two books the same day and the other book has just been sent today and that is 3days to post from different company.I would recommend this company and I will certainly use them again. In fact I was checking out what else they sell when I ended up here doing a review as I have not found them yet.
I believe this is the same store that goes by the name pbshop on Amazon. If it is not, sorry in advance for the confusion. If you Google pbshop this is what comes up.
Only after an order is placed, you get the nasty surprise that the delivery may take 6 weeks. How is this possible? How does anything shipping from within the country take 6 weeks. Is someone hauling it by wagon train?
You then try to cancel the order immediately and receive a, 'we have processed and cannot cancel.' Many emails and chats with pbshop and Amazon later, the upshot is to wait for the items to arrive sometime in the next 6 weeks and then return them.
Having wasted hours with pbshop and having tried to cancel time and again, I am wondering why Amazon puts up with this nonsense. This makes one feel that buying from third party vendors on Amazon is a gamble. At the least you have to get Amazon to reimburse you for S&H and who knows how well that will go even if they have agreed to do so. Your time is wasted, you are aggravated and you are still item-less. So far Amazon has agreed to reimburse for RETURN shipping. What about outbound? What a mess. What a complete mess.
Is pbshop for real? Do they not have the item in stock and have to wait for someone else to deliver it to them? What exactly is the problem? How does any third party vendor on Amazon survive quoting up to 6 week lead times for anything? Some of us do a nice sized amount of business on Amazon and this type of silliness makes us much less likely to continue doing a nice sized amount of business on Amazon.
Amazon, PBshop is not doing you any favors with this customer. At the very least, why not make them fess up and put truth in advertising on their listing BEFORE you have to order. This is what they quote on shipping BEFORE you buy on Amazon:
"(usually 10-14 days but can be longer)"
AFTER you buy on Amazon, the 'longer' becomes up to 6 weeks. What garbage.
If they list delivery as taking up to 6 weeks, I can imagine how many customers will bother to order. Maybe that would give PBshop a clue. PBshop has only a 90% positive current rating on Amazon. Is this the equivalent of a C or a D?
To be fair to the seller, Dooyoo is only showing negative comments. I purchased a book last week (ignoring the reviews) and found the service to be good. The communication worked, the book arrived promtly and in first class condition. Personally I would buy from these guys again without hesitation. A good service !

Appalling bookshop! I placed an order on 4th of December for a book. Paid £2.50 for standard delivery (3-5 days). A week later, they emailed me saying that the book had just been dispatched from their US warehouse and that I shall expect it within 14 days, e.g. after xmas. I emailed them to cancel my order but they refused. I will have to send (and pay for sending) the book back to them. Avoid at any cost!!
DON'T ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE, IT IS NOT WORTH THE 50p YOU MIGHT SAVE, THEY ARE INCOMPETENT. AMAZON STOP LISTING THEM.fully negative experience.
I wish I had read these reviews before I ordered from them on Amazon! I ordered a book on Sep. 17th that was IN STOCK and it just shipped on OCT. 10th...almost a full month after they snatched up my money. By far the WORST WORST WORST online shopping experience I have ever had. They would not cancel my order, would not return my emails, would not care one bit about my order...why should they.....they already had my money. Son of a BRUGIFH!!!
I would have taken note of the reviews on this site, but I didn't realise....! I bought 15 craft & gardening books from a seller on Ebay and paid by Paypal as soon as the auction ended. A couple of days later 2 of the items turned up independently and were great, then a box arrived, by DHL with a label that said 'paperbackshop.co.uk. When opened it had 2 highly technical computer books, not at all what I bought (bearing in mind I'm a 2 x times grandmother who can't even work a mobile!)
Finally managed to trace a 'phone number and was told that they don't know anything, don't keep records (?) so can't tell me where my books went or who the computer books should have gone to. Am still waiting for money or books 5 weeks on. BEWARE BAD SITE & NO ONE GIVES A DAMN
The guy on the phone was completely unfazed, blamed someone who 'we let use the facilities as she sometimes sells on Ebay', what facilities? and how can you muddle up 16 craft books with 2 computer books? and why no records. how can you possibly run a business and not keep records, they wouldn't know if they had been paid or not. I bought & paid for the books at the beginning of April. Initially I allowed them time to try and find out who they should have supplied with computer books, but no go. One of the items was apparently sent recorded delivery but that dissapreared as well. Since then there is either no answer or as of the last lot of emails, everyone is on holiday. A site to steer clear of and I would have done if I'd realised they had anything to do with my delivery but if it's not declared how do you know?
Don't use. Slow delivery, bad on email and no compensation for late arrival. They have refunded me but still had to go out and buy a book as it was a travel guide! Book arrived one day before I got back... very useful.
DO NOT TRUST OR RELY ON THIS COMPANYVery impolite and terrible at communication. My money was taken straight away and I waited for a week until I emailed the seller. I then recieved a generic e-mail from paperbackshop which was no use at all. 2 days later I recieved a message saying that I had recieved a refund...though looking into my account I hadn't. They had simply put the money back and...and then taken it back out AGAIN!I sent another email to the seller and to amazon...amazon were a lote more helpful and I eventually got my refund..but through no help from the seller...they simply sent me out the same automated e-mail I had recieved before.Paperbackshop do not care about their customers and there is no personal service. They simply have TOO MANY orders a day to keep up with answering e-mails...which shouldn't be an excuse!
This company practices the worst customer servicies. I will never buy anything from this company again.I accidentally ordered the same book twice (due to not knowing the functionality of 1-click shopping on Amazon). When I realized the mistake within two hours, I immediately sent a cancellation request via Amazon.com. Apparently, this company do not take any cancellation requests. The next day, I received an e-mail from the "customer care team" acknowledging receiving my original orders. I replied and requested again to the "customer care team" to cancel the other duplicate order. My request was ignored again. I placed and requested cancellation of the orders on 3/17. The company sent shipping notice on 3/26. Why they can't cancel an order requested 9 days prior to shipping is just totally unacceptable.
DO NOT USE I placed and order on 12 Dec, dispatch was 13-14 Dec and it should have arrived 17-31 Dec, it still hasn't arrived so I contacted Amazon who said it has not been dispatched but (here comes the good bit), they have taken my money. Amazon have sent them an email to cancel my order and they have 3 days to reply, by which time with the holidays they will have had my money for a whole month before I get it back. I asked Amazon to refund me and for them to take it up with Paperback shop but they said that my contract is with the seller and not Amazon, where it said this when I was ordering is beyond me. How should I have known that they would take the money there and then when Amazon never have taken it until it has been sent.
I feel quite dissapointed in Amazon as well, I think they should not use this company again as it looks very back for them in my opinion.
Terrible service. I ordered a book thru Amazon from this merchant as a Christmas present. The estimated delivery time was Dec 7-21, for an "in stock" book. It hasn't arrived and it's now Christmas Eve.
I contacted this merchant thru Amazon to ask where my order is, and I got a canned response about their delivery times (standard is 10-14 working days) and they did not address where MY order was, why it was late, and when I could expect it.
I have no way to track my order. Fortunately for me, I contacted Amazon by phone and they will refund my money, so I re-ordered the book thru Amazon since Amazon now has it in stock, and it will arrive the day after Christmas.
Buyer beware; once you place your order with paperbackshop.co.uk you have no way of tracking your order and no idea when it will arrive, despite their canned delivery times.
What a terrible service, unhelpful, this company do not respond to e-mails the books arrive after they should.
In fact service is not a word I could give to this company.
Please please give this company a miss.
I don't want you to have the same poor service I have had.
Looking at reviews and feedback I am not the first to encounter problems with this company.
