I LOVE MEGABUS
I am living in Norwich, and during my spare time, I visited London a lot. Megabus is way more affordable options compared to other public transportations. You could even get less than a tenner for a Norwich - London return ticket. What a bargain.
Honestly, I couldn''t find anything wrong with Megabus''s service. I think this is a very sensible choice of transportation for a traveller in budget. It takes less time to reach Norwich compared to the competitor service, because Megabus coach doesn''t stop at any other bus stop on its way to Norwich.
My only problem is its destination options. I don''t think they have as much destinations compared to the competitors. If I want to insist on using Megabus to go to another city, which is not London, I would have to go all the way to London and continue the journey with different bus. Which is not quite time-efficient.
There is also time management problems sometimes. I experienced some uncomfortable lateness with Megabus from London. I don''t think this is intentional. You know how bad the London traffic could be. But, I think Megabus should be able to cover that problem before the less understanding customer gets very angry.
Another problem, which is not really a problem for me, but quite a big one for my husband, is the seating in the coach. He is 6 feet tall, and he found it quite uncomfortable sitting in a very small space for three and a half hour journey. Yes, he could sleep all the way, but he found the claustrophobic size made the journey very unpleasant for him.
Apart from that, I am quite happy to use this as my transportation option while travelling alone. It is a great, and straightforward service, and very budget friendly. Recommendable.

The funds from those phone calls pay wages
That's how to their budget they keep.
You see it's not due to laziness
Incompetence or a lack of trained staff
It's not 'cos the company's useless
Or even just having a laugh
It isn't that they can't devise rotas
For drivers, buses or staff
It isn't even just one of those things
Or an unforgiveable gaff
It's the ultimate way to make money
As long as they plan delays, not too much
Just enough to annoy passenger's families
Who'll complain about this, that and such
But don't expect sorry or admission
Of fault or acceptance of blame
Their policy's honed by years of practice
They're experts at playing their game
The sad truth is that despite my complaining
My daughter's distress and her anger in vain
She'll need to use them another time
She'll pay her £3 once again
So the moral to all is so obvious
To beat your rivals it's clear
Don't improve your service or vehicles
Or do owt to make your fares dear
Just find another way to fleece them
A legally recognised way
Like tax-dodging or fiddling expenses
But be sure that the b........s will pay
I had often seen the Megabus when driving on the motorway but it wasn't until I took up early retirement eighteen months ago that I actually started using them. Having more time on my hands, a passion for travel and being on a fixed income I found that this service really suits my requirements.
Firstly, to book a trip is really easy, simply register online at megabus.co.uk, then select the date you want to travel and you are shown all the available journeys for that day. Select the one you want and proceed to checkout, once paid for you will receive a reservation number which you need to take with you to show the driver when you board the bus. This is also emailed to you as confirmation and there is the option to add your mobile phone number and you will then get the reservation number via text as well. On certain journeys there is the opportunity to travel by train eg Sheffield to London. On trains you will get an allocated seat number unlike the coaches which is first come first served. The beauty of the train is that you can have the smug feeling of taking exactly the same journey as fellow passengers and probably paying a third or less of the normal rail fare. A journey from Sheffield to London on 29th August 2013 can be had from as little as £10 on the train and an even cheaper £4 on the coach! This is the main advantage of megabus - it is incredibly cheap.
You may think the cheap prices are reflected in old, tatty coaches but it is not the case. All the ones I have been on have had air conditioning and a toilet. Sure, there are no frills or drinks machine available but if you want to get around the country cheaply you can't go far wrong with this company.
I travelled from London to Paris on the 10.30 am bus on the 14th if August and returned on the 11am bus on the 17th August. The journey started well with easy check in, but that's where it ended.
Driving down the motorway, the driver pulled on to the hard shoulder at the bottom of a slip road, slammed on his breaks, jumped out if his seat and informed us he ' could wait no longer' and he ran up the bus to the toilet! A bus full of passengers, on the hard shoulder if the motorway whilst the driver had a wee...Very dangerous!!
Less than 5 minutes later we stopped at a service station at the euro tunnel!
The driver did state no hot food was allowed on the bus, but one person came back with a Burger King, and it was taken off them and put with the luggage. Fair enough..rules are rules.
However, upon arrival at Boulogne, where there is a driver change, the next driver saw the Burger King bag, and asked why it was there. The driver from London told him he had said there was to be no hot food on the bus and the new driver shouted ' oh, I've got a bus full that just don't listen!'. This was totally uncalled for, and was ignored by the passengers.
We left Boulogne, and the driver put the cold air on full blast. The bus got cold very quickly, and one passenger asked the driver to turn it down because everyone was cold. He was told very abruptly that it was not the drivers problem. It wouldn't be turned down, and sure enough it wasn't. It made for a cold and uncomfortable journey, that the driver seemed to enjoy.
On arrival in Paris we got our luggage from under the bus and I thanked the driver, as much as anything to see his reaction. OMG!!! You would have thought I'd swore at him. If looks could kill, I would have dropped there and then!
Our return journey got off to a good start. A very pleasant driver, chatty, smiling and very helpful. What a shame we had to change drivers again at Boulogne.
We arrived early and were told the next driver would be along by 2.30 to take us back to London. 3pm arrived and still no sign of him. So our driver went looking for him, but came back unable to find him. He then phoned head office in Glasgow to find out what was going on. 15 minutes later, the lost driver arrived! He had been waiting in the wrong place!!
So we set off 45 minutes late and headed for the euro tunnel.
We missed the train we were booked on, but no one complained. What happened had happened, and was accepted.
Back in the uk, obviously late, the driver tried to pull back time by driving like an absolute lunatic!! Speeding through London, in wrong lanes, undertaking and swerving through traffic with no respect for anyone's safety. Passengers, other road users and pedestrians were all put in danger. On one roundabout he drove so fast onto it that a wagon didn't see us, pulled out and both the wagon driver and the bus driver slammed on the breaks! We were inches from disaster. Such a near miss for the sake of a few minutes.
Relieved, we arrived at Victoria half an hour late. The driver had managed to pull back 15 minutes by putting everyone at risk! Really not worth it.
Overall a very memorable trip for the wrong reasons. 4 drivers in total, and only one decent one.
Never again, Megabus. You may be cheap, definatly not cheerful, and when I travel, regardless of what I've paid, I expect to feel comfortable and safe. This was definatly not the case!!
I've used Megabus a few times now - mainly to get between home and university (in York). I've also used it to get to Download Festival (see my review of the festival on the specifics of that journey).
Megabus is a budget travel company that connects cities in the UK. They also have operations in other countries in Europe, but I have not used these. The whole concept is no-frills and basic, but that's why the prices are so low.
Although the name is MegaBUS there are some routes (such as routes into London St Pancras) which also use a train service for some or all of the journey. On these journeys you are given a train ticket when you present your ticket reservation to the Megabus driver.
There are luggage restrictions very similar to most airlines (one piece of hand baggage and one larger piece of luggage), but they don't seem to enforce it quite as much as an airline (probably because they're rarely full).
The main positive of Megabus is that it's very very cheap. A single from York to London is almost always under £10 and less for concessions. Comparing this to a standard train fare of £30 and over it's a real bargain.
They have always been on time when I have got them and they seem to be pretty reliable. They're usually clean and have toilets. Another thing I've noticed is that they're not too loud; many busses and coaches sound really loud especially when you're going fast down a motorway, but these aren't too bad.
The booking process online is simple and easy. You simply select when and where you want to go and it gives you the options. For my particular route the options are very early in the morning, but it depends where you start your journey.
Changing between bus to train and vice versa on some routes is inconvenient and confusing at first. When I booked I didn't actually realise the journey was part train which lead to a mad panic at St Pancras station looking for the bus station when I was actually meant to be going to a train platform. When I asked a member of staff I was pointed in the right direction, but it would be nice to have it in big letters on my ticket to avoid confusion!
As I've said it is no-frills and this is apparent when getting on the bus: you have to load and unload your bags yourself and the seats are a free-for-all. On some journeys I have been incredibly cold on the bus and unable to warm up without taking clothes out of my bag and putting them on.
Currently you have to print out your ticket, but hopefully soon you'll be able to use e-tickets because this seems like a waste of time and paper.
Although these are negative points, I feel you can't really complain at the low prices they charge. You simply get what you pay for!
I also think the list of destinations isn't very extensive. You have a fairly limited amount of cities to go to from your start point meaning it's not possible to get to exactly where you want to go. Luckily for me my route is always available, but depending on where you live and where you want to go, it might not be the best option.
I give Megabus a 3/10. It's not luxury and it's certainly not convenient. But if you need to get across the country for a very small price it's a great option.
I think the rest of the reviews on here have covered the basics of Megabus, so I'm not going to go into that.
While I understand a lot of the negativity around them, I have to say that the 8 or 9 times I've taken the Megabus, I've never had a negative experience.
In particular, yesterday I travelled from Cardiff to London. I had a great journey at the fraction of the cost of the train and only an hour longer! I paid £11.50 for my ticket, I could not have travelled by train this cheaply.
The stop in Cardiff is literally 5 minutes off the main shopping street. It's easy to find and as they have one stop, you can't get confused and go to the wrong gate, as is possible at the National Express stop (which is in the main city bus station). I was able to enjoy a day in Cardiff shopping without panicing about getting my bus.
The coach itself was clean, not over-booked (so I didn't have to wrestle for a seat and had plenty of space), warm without being toasty and very smooth. It was modern and up to date and felt nicer than the National Express coach I had taken a few days prior. Due to a lack of drop offs, the bus arrived in London 30 minutes ahead of schedule.
Worth noting for female passengers - above each seat (where the lights are) there is a red panic button with a little symbol of a lady on it (like on a loo door). I felt comforted by this as if I felt unsafe, I could press it, so no issues with travelling alone.
I don't have a bad word to say about it, so I thought I'd share with you guys. Definitely worth looking into if you have never travelled by Megabus before. It's cheap and cheerful and as far as I can tell, nicer than the main competitor.

First of all Megabus should be made to remove the £1 advertsiment as it is in most cases not true and it mis-leads travellers into thinking that they are a low cost service. After shutting it's competition out with low price promises they have increased the prices significantly. This is noticable during holiday periods where they hike the prices. I was a regular Greyhound Bus UK traveler from London to Glasgow until Greyhound no longer could compete. Now that Stagecoach Buses (the owner of Megabus and other coaches) has more or less a monopoly, they can charge pretty much what they like.
Seating - if you are 5ft 10in or taller you will suffer from Megabus lack of leg room and seats that recline barely.
Drivers are generally unfriendly and for those travelling through the night the drivers tend to shout through the microphone waking everyone up at each stop and putting on the the bright internal lights. This is not ideal for those that depend on the coach for going to work like me.
Guarantee - the only thing Megabus UK can Guarantee an uncomfortable ride and that the WiFi will not work.

I refuse to pay more to travel in a stuffy, tacky coloured Megabus which almost always reeks of sandwiches, and is usually driven by a rude, snarly, bad mannered bus driver from Dundee. Scotrail trains are faster, smoother, and today - for the exact same journey - I will save a staggering £6.20 cheaper by not travelling Megabus (Mega'ripoff'bus). "Low cost inter city travel serving Europe??", well why is it cheaper to take a TRAIN and what's cheap about £22.50 return from Perth??. I'd expect a return to Newcastle for that price. MEGA RIP OFF! MEGA RIP OFF! I will NOT travel with this company ever again out of principle due to their quite greed and lust for money.
When it comes to coach travel Megabus is usually the cheapest option. I have travelled with them a few times both on the regular coach and the sleeper bus service. Travelling by the regular coach is usually ridiculously cheap, even if you buy on the day of travel. However you do get what you pay for. The coach is usually crammed full, there is very little legroom and the coach can be noisy. If you are travelling at night it can be hard to sleep with other passengers chatting, listening to music and the noise of the actual coach so if you do plan to sleep take some ear plugs. The seats aren't as comfortable as they are on some other coach services. However the coach journey is usually quick and most services will arrive on time.
Travelling by the sleeper bus service is a lot more preferable if you are travelling to London. It is more expensive than the usual Megabus service but still cheaper than most regular coach services on the same route. There is both a bed and a seat allocated for each passenger. There will be 3 beds in a bunk bed and it can be quite a challenge getting into your bunk. Once your in however it is quite comfortable although there isn't much room. There is a pillow and duvet provided in addition to a sleeping mask. The ride is fairly smooth although the engine is quite loud. One benefit though is that people have paid extra to sleep on this service so there is no chatter and it is a lot easier to get some sleep.
I'd definitely recommend the sleeper service to anyone travelling to London as it is good value for money however with the usual Megabus service it's important to remember it is cheap for a reason.
I travelled with Megabus Cardiff to London in August 2012. A double decker bus load of passengers were left waiting outside our bus in the pouring rain for over one hour after the departure time. The bus driver only let us on the bus when somebody knocked on the window. I can only imagine what he was doing on the bus for all that time but he was definitely unstable. He delayed us another fifteen minutes because he was unable to shut a door.
During the journey he pulled over onto the hard shoulder, claimed there was a mechanical fault and burnt the clutch to make everyone panic about the smell of burning. He blew his horn numerous times at overtaking cars for no reason. He blew his horn at and didn't slow down for pedestrians crossing the road in London.
For this we had no apology or explanation I still have no idea why we were over an hour and a half late. In fact the bus driver was hostile towards the passengers and tried to blame the faulty door on us! I have complained to Megabus and received no reply.
I would never recommend Megabus. Do not use if you need a reliable service! It is worth paying for the other coach services for peace of mind and safe drivers!
After reading a few reviews on this and many other sites I always ask myself the same question: Why do people always think megabus are going to be perfect? Sure, the drivers can be a little rude at times. Sure, the buses can be late on arrival/departure but these instances only happen to myself, a constant user of megabus.com to Leeds/Bradford/Newcastle/Birmingham from London, once in every 4/5 return journeys working out to be once in every 8-10 journeys.
The first thing people have to realise about megabus is that they are only paying a relatively small price for the journey and this means that the quality of the coaches are obviously going to be sub-standard, I mean if you pay for a hotel room for £19 a night you aren't expecting it to be the Savoy are you? Using this analogy, if one pays £10 or less for a one way journey, you cannot expect the coaches to be luxury leather seats are you? The term 'you get what you pay for' springs to mind, if you pay a non-luxurious price, you will receive a non-luxurious coach.
Another thing I read about is the drivers. Now may I start this by noting that I have never experienced the megabus drivers from Scotland or the South West of England so have little knowledge of drivers there. Right back to the point, I tend to find that the drivers are relatively friendly in the sense that they are essentially glorified cab drivers, all they are tasked to do is get you from A to B and that's that. I also tend to find that drivers from the South of England are a lot less friendly than those from the North/Middle of England. Every time I board the megabus I notice that the drivers at first can be a little grumpy but wouldn't you be if you were forced to drive a coach full of 50+ passengers who are loud and rude themselves? Also, 75% of the time the drivers have no clue why the coach is late as they have either only just started driving the coach themselves or have only just been driving for a short period of time and have you 'reviewers' not heard of traffic, accidents or breakdowns? Please use common sense!!!
I have travelled by National Express and Megabus for well over 3 years now once every 2 weeks and personally I cannot find a difference between the two, especially when the price differences are so high for National Express.
Right now, the coaches. Upon boarding a megabus you'll notice two things, either you've got on brand new coach (result!) or you have boarded an old herbert which has done well over 300,000 miles (damn!) but too be honest the coaches are all in pretty decent nick, sometimes the seats may be a little uncomfortable if the coaches are packed admittedly but this is what you get for not travelling by train/plane. I always find the coaches to be relatively smooth riding and rather like sitting on a hard mattress whilst resting your head on a wooden head rest covered in fabric, okay so not the best but please! You're paying small bucks!
Overall, if you are a rational human being, use MEGABUS, if you are a snob, use NATIONAL EXPRESS.

Having recently sought tickets for a trip for myself and my elderly mother to travel by Megabus I was appalled to discover the website had duped me into booking one more ticket than I required.
It asks "how many passengers?" - I entered 2
"How many concessions?" - I entered 1
Does that seem reasonable so far? Apparently not, because this books 3 tickets. This wasn't apparent until I completed the transaction and received the email.
I complained to Megabus, whose immediate response (paraphrased) was "if you're too stupid to understand our site you should have called our premium rate number before you booked".
I raised a complaint with Consumer Protection, who contacted the local office for the company in Perth. Apparently the website isn't misleading because when it shows the options it shows 3 seats = £24. I had read that to mean there were 3 seats available on that route at the price of £24, not that I'd just booked 3 tickets at that price!
Am I alone in thinking that excluding concessions from the total of passengers is both misleading and discriminatory in terms of how the elderly are perceived by the company?
It appears there's no recourse. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has been caught out on this?
I plan to use that route regularly over the next 4 years. I will not be using Megabus or Stagecoach again though. They've just lost a potentially valuable customer. I'll either drive (unfortunate for the environment, but I don't work with unethical organisations) or I'll go by train in future!
We did use the service... despite being on the first bus out of the depot we were 15 minutes late leaving and were left standing outside in the rain rather than allowed to board. The driver was rude, performed several unsafe manoevers during the journey including almost forcing another motorist off the road during an overtaking move, and using his mobile phone whilst travelling at speed on the dual carriageway. We were late getting to our destination. The return trip was marginally better although the change of bus half way did not go smoothly. The driver again used a mobile phone during transit and twice pulled over onto the hard shoulder of the dual carriageway. The first time he came back on board with a broom which he used to prop the drivers external mirror in place through an open window. He phoned the depot to complain that the skirt lockers would not stay shut whilst driving but that he'd managed to jam them shut using the handle of a bag inside (I assume passenger luggage). Again we were late to the destination and, as an advanced motorist myself I would not put myself at risk with such poor driving skills, and obviously unsafe vehicles.
Having now looked at a few sites, it seems everyone is complaining about this company on almost all sites... are the users the problem or is it the company?

This is a copy of my complaint sent to Megabus on 13th February 2012 and again on the 28th. As yet no acknowledgment. I have dealings with hundreds of foreign students, who regularly want the cheapest method of travel, guess which company will lose out on my recommendation!!!!
Since May 2011 I have used Megabus to travel between London Victoria and Edinburgh on 6 occasions. In general I would have said that this was a good service and have, on several occasions, recommended Megabus.
In September 2011 I travelled overnight with no heating. The bus driver did not advise passengers that there was a problem and was rather off-hand when asked, by a passenger, what the problem was.
I again travelled, overnight on Mega Bus, to Edinburgh on 2/2/12 with an 18inch crack in the windscreen and no heating. Yet again no mention was made that there was a problem with the heating. When a passenger asked the driver I overheard the driver stating the heating would be on when the next driver took over. I happened to overhear a conversation with the first and 2nd drivers who had stated that he did not want the heating on as he was afraid that the heating would crack the windscreen. The second driver took over the bus and again no heating and no explanation! The third driver must have been made aware of the heating problem and sub zero weather forecast as he appeared with a warm coat, gloves and a hat.
I am interested in your comments regarding;
1. Why were we not advised, at the start of the journey, that there was a heating problem therefore allowing us to take extra clothing from our hold luggage?
2. Was it legal/safe to drive with such a crack on the windscreen in such temperatures?
3. Why was there not a replacement bus organised?
4. If a replacement bus was unavailable from London why not have one organised to intercept on route?
5. Was it legal to drive the bus with on board temperatures below zero?
6. Why did the driver/drivers not advise passengers of the heating problem, (if the bus intercom was not working it would only have taken a couple of minutes to walk the bus aisle to advise passengers.)

Megabus first came to my attention about a year ago whilst looking for cheap ways to travel to Bristol from Manchester to see family. I'm no longer driving and with petrol prices costing return trips to cost up to a £100, getting my partner to drive me there was pretty prohibitive. National Express always seemed quite expensive and although I have a disabled railcard the train still costs me £43. So the search for an even cheaper alternative was on!
Its actually been around longer than I thought, 2003 to be precise, as far as I'm aware it started off with the Everywhere to London route but now connects to 50 places, from Inverness to Penzance if you fancy that journey! (I don't at well over 14 hours!) They are past of the Stagecoach group who are fast threatening their monopoly rivals First Bus and even cover the US and Canada! However they are nowhere near as big as National Express, so, for example Manchester has only 4 coaches a day going to Bristol.
You cant mistake a Megabus, their bright blue coaches with the cheery yellow chap in his conductors uniform smiling out at you. What had put me off before was that the Megabuses I had seen looked quite tatty and worn. And at that time I was sufficiently able to be a snob and go on the train! But they did appear to be improving, I was seeing more and more new shiny buses.
I'd also been out off by the times of some of the buses, they would leave at some daft mid-day time to arrive at stupid 'o' clock. Seeing the moths fly out of my purse I decided to take another look at the website. Aided along by the sight of that cheeky chappie on the side of the bus proclaiming fare to be from a £1
The website is easy enough to manoeuvre, click on UK, how many people, NUS or Concession (only available in Scotland), by bus or train, when you are going and when you are returning. Yes, I didn't write that wrong, apparently they also do tickets for the train. I'd be really interested to know if anyone has managed to get tickets to the train because I never have. I am informed that they release the train tickets 45 days in advance.........apparently.....and then its only from London to the South West.
Now this summer Megabus have been a bit sneaky. Indeed their prices do usually start from a £1 but they are throwing a summer extravaganza whereby an ticket booked 14 days in advance costs only £8 no matter the distance. Of course this means you cant get the £5 to London anymore! Although this seems subject to conditions as well as sometimes the £8 deal seems to last until about 2 days before you are due to travel. Thats the other thing with Megabus, the closer to the date it gets, the more expensive it gets , it can double if not triple.
There aren't really the discounts you get on the train or National Express, there's discounts for students and Scottish Concession Holders. But not for those with disabilities, family groups, etc, indeed its per seat so no discounts for children.
There is a phone number for booking but its in tiny numbers so they're obviously wanting you to book through the website which you can do with a debit or credit card.
The booking system promises to be a smooth, simple process. Smooth, simple process? I wish, I nearly lost the will to live using this website! Everytime I got to the booking form the flipping thing crashed. I should mention that I'd been unable to find the phone number at this point.
In fact it took so long that the price for our return journey had gone up from £8 each to £17. I was picking my son up in Bristol returning back to Manchester, then taking him back again a week later and I would come back up again. Hence the need for low-cost as its actually 2 returns for me.
I did ring up to try and get the cheaper price but was informed this was impossible, I've just had the phone bill and that call cost me £4 so beware!
I'm lucky enough to have a Disabled Railcard with 2 singles from Bristol to Manchester costing a total of £36 and an 1 1/2hr less journey it was worth the extra few quid to come back that way.
So I've paid my £8 to go down to Bristol on the first leg of my epic trip, there is, of course a booking fee of 50p. Quite nervously though they dont give you a ticket, just a booking number, you can get this sent to a mobile or they will send you an email with it in. But I get a bit agitated if I dont have a real life ticket to wave at an inspector or conductor when he's checking. I had to print off the e-mail and spent the whole way to Shudehill double-checking the details!
Right I'm booked on and at Shudehill bus station waiting for the bus which arrives 10 minutes early for people to stretch their legs, but it leaves exactly on time.
I wasn't expecting luxury, quite frankly I hadn't paid for it and I was neither surprised or disappointed. Luckily the bus was extremely quiet and I was able to put my bag next to me on the seat because by god there wasn't a lot of room. I only just touch 5' 6" and I had about 2-3" spare to move my legs in. Hence I spent Manchester to Birmingham being kicked in the back every time the person behind me moved.
So if you are on the tall side sit in the aisle seat so you can stretch your legs. Or sit right at the back where there's more leg room but you'll be next to the loo. If you don't have the choice of the above options may I recommend flight socks to reduce the chance of DVT?
The seats are covered in that horrible scratchy carpet-like material. On bare skin you'll end up with carpet burns but with none of the fun! I just had a childhood memory of school trips pop into my head where the school bully would grab someone's face and rub it against that material till they cried! With the space restrictions I'm also glad I didn't wear shorts as explaining the carpet burns on my knees could prove quite difficult when I arrived home.
The bus is spotlessly clean with perfect temperatures throughout. The toilet was clean, working, though a little cramped. I'm starting to think this bus was designed for oompa-loompas.
Both drivers we had were extremely professional keeping us up to date with some of the traffic issues. They also knew their way around with the exceptional case of us arriving in Bristol on time despite 2 junctions of the M5 being closed and initially taking a different route. They also made sure those passengers who got off the bus at Birmingham for a cigarette had returned before leaving. Although it was a case of 'Oi mate, back on or we'll go without you'
Aside from the website I did enjoy the experience, at least this time. I really wouldn't like to be on it when its full. Trains can get cramped but at least you can move about. I'm not of the smaller size persuasion and unless I'm sitting next to a small child I wont even be able to move my arms. In fact the very thought makes me feel quite nervous. I cant argue with the prices though, £8 is a bargain and when National Express have to stop the discount fares for disabled people on the 31st October I may have to go on Megabus more often. And if you're not too fussy about the times you leave or the length of the journey its ahead of the competition!
I am a student and as such desperately trying to save money but also do everything. I was invited to stay with a friend in Plymouth and thought due to a lack of money that I would have to say no however I then found out through another friend about Megabus. There prices are amazing booking in advance can save you a lot of money and even though I have a rail card I still found it massively cheaper than going on the train and when considering petrol cheaper than driving.
The website itself is easy to use and navigate. You simply print off or write down your reservation number and you show this to one of the megabus members of staff and that's it. There's no waiting for things to come in the post which I was very pleased about and no long delays for confirmation emails and no pointless questions when you buy your tickets.
The coach was prompt and I quickly got on the coach and had the impression that they were very efficient. The coach was relatively comfortable considering how long I was on there for and there was a toilet.
I was pleased to be given choice of times I could choose to journey but disappointed to see that they were all early in the morning or late in the evening. But I can't complain too much London to Plymouth and back for less than £25 at very short notice is pretty good going.
